Celebrating World Tourism Day in Malinska – Remembrance, Discovery, and a Walk Through Time

On Saturday, September 27th, World Tourism Day will be celebrated – a day that highlights tourism not only as a source of leisure and enjoyment but also as a vital part of the global economy. The initiative was launched 45 years ago by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, and this year’s theme is “Tourism and Green Investments.”

In Malinska, the day will be dedicated to remembering Milan Radić, a passionate researcher of Dubašnica’s tourism history. He authored numerous works, including “Pozdrav iz Malinske,” “Voljenoj vali,” and the special edition “Krčki zbornik – Malinska” (1984). But Radić was much more – a respected radiologist, scientist, president of several associations, the first president of the Krk Municipality Tourist Board, fisherman, philatelist, husband, and father.

His life and legacy will be presented at a talk starting at 6 PM, featuring:
Prof. Dr. Vuk Tvrtko Opačić, Nedo Pinezić, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tomislav Galović, Radojko Orlić, and Ivan Šamanić (ŠRD Lastavica).

Saturday morning at 10 AM begins with a guided interpretive walk “Malinska Hotels Through Time” led by Tomislav Volarić. The walk explores the development of accommodation in Malinska – from Al Cacciatore, through hotels Slavija, Jadran, Draga, and Strnad, to the Haludovo complex – and the transformations these buildings have undergone.
Participation is free, but registration is required at: duboak@malinska.hr.

To conclude, we warmly invite you to visit the DUBoak Interpretation Center, which will be free of charge for all visitors on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
