Chapel of St. George

It is located west of the village of Sabljići, on the pasture Dolinji Drmun, a few kilometres from the village towards the old cemetery. The ruined building from the 14th/15th century was also abandoned. Remains suggest that it was a spacious chapel with an apse and Romanesque elements (Fučić). Its outer length with the apse is 10.60 m and its width is 5.40 m. Some walls have been preserved (the walls to the south and the north, and the east wall with the apse), while the façade was demolished, and the material was used by the locals over the years for other, personal purposes. The chapel most likely ceased to be used for worship in the late 18th century, when churches that were not properly maintained had to be taken out of use on the bishop’s decision. This one was indeed located far from the roads in a fenced pasture.
