This year, for the eleventh time, the Days of Cheese in Malinska and the traditional Sensa<\/strong> will enrich the pre-season program of events in the municipality of Malinska Duba\u0161nica.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The popularity of Sensa, and the thing which distinguishes it from typical gastronomic events, can be found in tradition. During Sensa, we are reviving an old custom not often remembered in our region. The race “Run for cheese”<\/strong> traditionally takes place after the Holy Mass, where the cheese is shown for the first time.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Thursday, May 26,<\/strong> 40 days after Easter, the town of Bogovi\u0107i becomes a mirror of old times. After the Holy Mass, with the unusual display of cheese on the altar, the race “Run for cheese” begins, accompanied by the sounds of traditional sopela instruments! It starts at the old bell tower and ends at Pavo\u010di\u0107’s threshing floor. The boys of Duba\u0161nica will run those 200 meters in front of an audience, as the shepherds from Duba\u0161nica once did. The race is run in pairs, and it is all the more interesting that the prize for all the runners is, you guessed it, sheep cheese.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But cheese isn’t just for those who run. The cheese festival will continue in Malinska, in a tent on the breakwater. The authentic gastronomic story and presentation of local<\/strong> delicacies<\/strong> will be provided by local caterers. As in all the 11 years so far, they are preparing a real feast of sweet and savory cheese specialties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This year’s festival is even more significant because, on the same day, the municipality of Malinska – Duba\u0161nica celebrates the 20th anniversary<\/strong> of fraternization with the municipality of G\u00fcttenbach (Pinkovac) from Austria. This means we’ll have a grand celebration with the klapa Pinkovac and Point band<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Friday, May 27<\/strong>, symbolically at 11:55 am (5 to noon, because it is high time to preserve traditional shipbuilding), we will open the DUBoak Maritime Heritage Interpretation Center<\/strong>. “Fisherman’s Brunch”<\/strong> will be free for all visitors, and klapa Ka\u0161tadi will perform on the square.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the same day, and on Saturday, May 28, from 3 pm to 6 pm, in the center of Malinska, residents of the municipality of Fulianka from Slovakia will offer free Slovak specialties and beer.<\/strong> Right after, at 6 pm, we’ll start the regatta of traditional boats.<\/p>\n

On the breakwater, the festivities continue with a fish-based catering offer. The entertainment program will be provided by Klapa Tramuntana, Infinity band, and Koktelsi band.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year, Malinska is also the starting point of the largest Kvarner festival of the sea and maritime tradition – Fiumara.<\/strong> On Saturday, May 28<\/strong> at 10 am, we’ll send off an entire fleet of traditional boats setting off on their way to Rijeka, accompanied by the brass music Pinkovac.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s program continues at noon when the municipality of Malinska – Duba\u0161nica will mark the 10th anniversary<\/strong> of fraternization with municipalities from Germany, Slovakia, and France. The entire three-day program will end with a party in a tent on the breakwater, with catering and musical performances by Speen and Gustafi.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the announced program, from May 26 to May 28<\/strong>, a fair of handicrafts and local products<\/strong> will be held in Malinska in cooperation with the association Progres from Krk.<\/p>\n

The exciting week will also be marked by a rich offer of cheese specialties in many restaurants throughout the municipality, from May 23 to May 29<\/strong>!<\/p>\n
